All the designs are done in accordance with the Steel Joist Institute specifications and design manuals, each with its own considerations and requirements. The uses for each one are briefly explained:
K Y KCS SERIES JOIST
Open web steel Joists are used to provide structural support for floors and roofs of buildings; they are the most economical type of joists and no other product or method can compete with them. The KCS joist can be specified to support uniform loads plus concentrated and non-uniform loads and allow more flexibility.
LH AND DLH SERIES JOISTS
Longspan and deep longspan steel joists are used for the direct support of floor or roof slabs or decks between walls, beams and main structural members, they were designed to extend the use of joists to spans not covered by open web joists.
They’re used as primary framing members, they are designed as simple spans supporting equally spaced concentrated load of a floor or roof system, these concentrated loads are considered to act at the panel points of the joist girders.
